THAD NATION
Founder and Senior Partner
Thad Nation is the founder and senior partner of the public strategies firm, Nation Consulting.
He is a seasoned political professional, who has run the communications efforts of two governors
in different states, operated as a Press Secretary for both state and national parties, and worked
in a variety of state agencies.
At Nation Consulting, Nation focuses on assisting corporate clients with strategic planning in government and public relations, and managing crisis communications. Nation serves as the Executive Director of Wired Wisconsin, and works with a diverse array of companies, including We Energies, Michels Corp., and Pabst Farms, among other clients.
Prior to starting his own firm, Nation served as the Communications Director for Governor Jim Doyle of Wisconsin. He ran the Communications Office for both the Governor's Office and the Transition, and served as Deputy Campaign Manager during Governor Doyle's 2002 campaign. Prior to that, Nation served as the Press Secretary for former Indiana Governor Frank O'Bannon in both the Governor's Office and during O'Bannon's 2000 reelection campaign.
Nation has extensive experience in state government, having served in the executive offices of agencies related to health and human services, natural resources, public housing, tax policy, and state information. He began his career in the office of former Governor Evan Bayh of Indiana. Nation has also served as Communications Director for the Indiana and Wisconsin Democratic Parties and as a Deputy Press Secretary for the Democratic National Committee.
Thad Nation is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. Nation lives in Shorewood with his four children, and Cocoa, their chocolate Labrador.
